Start 1/20/07

This is my first entry. Goals for this year are as follows:

Pay off student loan. As of this date, I owe $5,330.97
Pay off any unsecured debt $3,445.94
Reduce spending (credit cards/living expenses)
Remain debt free
Build up savings account, as of this date $7372.03.
Need to start saving for a house.
Contribute max to 401K, as of this date $22,753.75

I've been doing little things here and there, like bringing my lunch to work and turning off all the lights. Last week I canceled my international long distance plan (b/c I won't be calling Canada anymore!) & chose a cheaper package for DirectTV. Also work a little bit of overtime here and there. Hopefully all these things will add up.

Long Term Goals:

Buy a house within 2 years. Have it paid off in less than 30 years.
Have atleast $10,000 in emergency savings.
Comfortable retirement, where I have more than enough money to live on.

    Welcome and by the way I think you're doing great. I wish at your age that I had known what you know now. There's alot out there at 40 and 50 who aren't doing what you're doing. It's never too late. Don't look backwards. Look to tomorrow. It's like I used to look at my retirement account and thought where I was and it didn't help my bottom line. Just don't dwell on your past too much and look forward now. You have a lot of people on this board who will encourage you. You're doing great and at least you have a plan.

    Welcome, orchid!

    I like orchids, but I understand that they're hard to raise?

    Don't know yet, but someday, I'd like to try my hand at gardening. Big Grin
